摘要:The Canadian women’s movement in the 1970s made concerted attempts to change the public school system, andit had considerable success, although it remained frustrated with slow progress and marginal to structures of powerin schools. Equality between the sexes became a legitimate policy issue, debated in schools, school boards, ministries and teachers’ federations. Textbooks were rewritten and screened for their portrayal of women. Women’shistory and novels by feminists, even the occasional women’s studies course, were added to the curriculum. Girlslearned to play soccer and female teachers were able to wear pants to school. Women dramatically increased theirrepresentation in positions of educational leadership. Sexual harassment was named as a problem. These changeswere hard fought, and represent one of the most far reaching and enduring educational changes of the century.
