摘要:In the neuropsychological literature, only five aphasie subjects are on record, whose difficulties on morphosyntactical processing were specifically tested by means of noun/verb morphological transformation tasks (Shapiro, Shelton & Caramazza, 2000; Shapiro & Caramazza, 2003a,b; Laiacona & Caramazza, 2004).Our study has two main goals. 1 he first is to explore noun/verb morphosyntax in a large aphasie sample, to see if it is possible to distinguish dissociations between nouns and verbs originating at the lexical-semantic (stem) and at the morphological (inflection) level. The second is to identify the neural substrates of noun/verb dissociations, depending on whether stem vs. inflection vs. both are impaired. The combined use of behavioral and lesion data allows evaluating the neuroanatom i cal correlates of specific grammatical categories (noun/verb) and of specific morphosyntactic processes (nominal/verbal).
