摘要:Neural damage affecting the time-course of representational persistence and decay has been reported in the semantic domain, where refractory semantic access deficits have been described. These deficits are characterized by damage to the semantic system resulting in prolonged refractory periods - periods following an instance of semantic access when further semantic access is degraded or blocked(Cmtch & Warrington, 2005). Abnormal refractory periods during spoken naming have also been reported in the absence of semantic deficits, indicating that phonological output representations may also be subject to refractory access deficits (McCarthy & Kartsounis, 2000). Here we report two cases of refractory access affecting phonological input representations during speech perception.
