摘要:Normal listeners can adapt dynamically to variations in the speech input in the service of language communication. We use here the term functional plasticity to characterize this ability of the adult perceptual system to adapt dynamically to variability in the linguistic/speech input for speech and lexical processing. Studies have shown that variability in the acoustic-phonetic input can shape phonetic categories and tune perception (e.g., Samuel & Kraljic, 2009). Here we examine whether aphasie patients show functional plasticity in phonetic categorization.
