摘要:Irreversible Binomials (IBs) are complex linguistic constructions consisting of two words, or constituents, pertaining to the same lexical class, conjoined by a linking element, usually a conjunction or a preposition (e.g., hit and run). The aim of this study is to explore how IBs are represented in the mental lexicon of older adults and of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, using a serial recall task (Belleville, Peretz,& Malenfant, 1996). The rationale of the study is the following: if a word sequence is represented as a whole in the mental lexicon, then its recall would be easier compared to word sequences that do not have a whole representation.
