摘要:Failure of spontaneously generated fluent speech is a significant source of functional impairment in individuals with damage to left EFG. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) administered to the right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) has been shown to induce improvements in naming ability in patients with chronic left hemisphere stroke and non-fluent aphasia. We previously reported (Hamilton et al., 2010) a patient in whom rTMS improved spontaneous elicited speech, with an increase in narrative words, nouns, and mean sentence length in a Cookie Theft picture description task of the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination (Goodglass & Kaplan,1983).
