Speech errors rarely violate phonotactic constraints (e.g. Dell et al., 2000), and errors in short-term memory tend to regularize transitional probabilities (e.g. Botvinick & Bylsma, 2005). In written language, orthotactic constraints (constraints on which strings of letters are possible written words) may influence written word production.
