摘要:AbstractAdaptive control systems are difficult to compare against one another, because they vary widely in their capabilities. We present a nomenclature that maps traffic control system functions to control theory concepts, to serve as a vocabulary for making comparisons. An example evaluation of traffic responsive control and an adaptive control system is provided in which the two systems are operated independently and concurrently, and compared to conventional time of day control. The results show that the use of two algorithms concurrently results in better performance than either one independently.
