摘要：We are very glad to issue the high quality papers from the Seventh InternationalConference on City Logistics which was held on 7 June - 9 June 2011 in Mallorca, Spain.Urban freight transport has become an important issue in urban planning. There are manychallenges and problems relating to increasing levels of traffic congestion, environmentalimpacts and energy conservation. In addition, freight carriers are expected to providehigher levels of service with lower costs. To address these complicated and difficultproblems, numerous city logistics schemes have been proposed and implemented inseveral cities, including: cooperative freight transport systems, advanced informationsystems, public freight terminals, off-hour delivery, time windows, road pricing and theregulation of load factors and parking. City logistics schemes are relatively new conceptsthat are aimed increasing the efficiency of urban freight transport systems as well reducingtraffic congestion and energy consumption and impacts on the environment and safety.However, new modelling, evaluation and planning techniques are required to conduct indepth investigations before city logistics schemes can be effectively deployed.
