摘要:Although the discipline known as cognitive neuropsychology is famous for its public debates about the relativemerits of single subject and group study methods, most self-described cognitive neuropsychologists employ avariety of methods to derive theoretically meaningful generalizations from patients’ performance. A recent paperdiscusses the rise of case series methodology in cognitive neuropsychology and argues that its value owes in part toits affinity for testing processing models (Schwartz & Dell, 2010). This symposium paper will discuss the affinitybetween case series methods and advanced lesion mapping techniques and argue that the successful coupling ofthese has revived interest in the relevance of lesion data for testing brain models of cognition.
