摘要:Efficacy of aphasia rehabilitation has been satisfactorily proven by meta-analyses and 2 evidence based reviews (Cappa et al., 2005; Cicerone et al.? 2005). An important factor in recovery appears to be intensity/quantity of treatment (e.g., Bhogal et al., 2003) whereas there are hints that time-post-onset does not influence aphasia therapy (Moss & Nicholas, 200o; Basso & Macis, 2011). Severity of the disorder has always been considered a negative prognostic factor but few studies directly tackled the question (e.g. Robey, 1998). Aim of this retrospective study was to inspect the effect of severity in a group of severe chronic aphasie subjects, previously rehabilitated in a different hospital, intensively treated for at least 6 months in our Aphasia Unit.
