摘要:AbstractLimited resources and high performance level expected from Malaysian universities have prompted the need for a better understanding of leadership competency that drives them forward, hence, initiated the development of a leadership competency model. This research intends to establish the sub-dimensions of the leadership competency model by using a factor analysis of the newly developed 26 items. A total of 530 sets of questionnaire were collected from academicians in four public universities in the Klang Valley. By using factor analysis on the five dimensions of leadership competency as initially proposed, four factors were extracted (i.e. governor, futurist, workforce developer and self-mastery), explaining 74.9% of the variance in the model. All the three dimensions are significantly correlated with each other (r>0.7, p<0.01), signifiying that the dimensions are interdependent. These findings demonstrate construct validity of the leadership competency, indicating that the instrument can be reliably used for future research.
