摘要:AbstractThis study examined the relationship between the parenting styles of overstressed mothers and their children's level of self- esteem. For this purpose 250 elementary school children and their mothers participated. First, the mothers were screened using the Parenting Stress Index (PSI). Based on the screening, 80 overstressed mothers were selected and responded to the Parenting Skills Inventory. Their children, with an average age of 10.6 years, completed the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CESI). Multiple regression analysis indicated that there was a significant association between the self-esteem of children, parenting styles and overstressed mothers (p<0.05). It was concluded that the parenting style and the level of maternal overstress are related to the level of self-esteem in the children studied.
