摘要:Historically, language has been studied in isolation from the rest of the cognitive system. Theories of therepresentations and processes that are involved in language processing have primarily been developed withoutconsidering how these representations and processes relate to other cognitive domains. In recent years, however, there has been increasing interest in understanding how information processing in language relates to these otherareas of cognition. The current symposium highlights some of this recent research, with the goal of providing aforum for discussing how our understanding of the representations and processes underlying language may benefitfrom comparing language with other cognitive functions.
