摘要：We are very glad to issue the papers from the Eighth International Conference on City Logisticswhich was held on 17 June - 19 June 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. Urban freight transport has become animportant issue in urban planning. There are many challenges and problems relating to increasinglevels of traffic congestion, environmental impacts and energy conservation. In addition, freightcarriers are expected to provide higher levels of service with lower costs. To address thesecomplicated and difficult problems, numerous city logistics schemes have been proposed andimplemented in several cities, including: cooperative freight transport systems, advancedinformation systems, public freight terminals, off-hour delivery, time windows, road pricing and theregulation of load factors and parking. City logistics schemes are relatively new concepts that areaimed at increasing the efficiency of urban freight transport systems as well reducing trafficcongestion and energy consumption and impacts on the environment and safety. However, newmodelling, evaluation and planning techniques are required to conduct in-depth investigations beforecity logistics schemes can be effectively deployed.
