摘要:AbstractReading is a major problem among students. Many students do not read much but surf the Internet most of the time. Hence, this study was designed to investigate the factors that motivate students to read English Language materials from the Internet to improve their language performance. A total of 80 students were randomly selected as a sample for this study. Questionnaires were distributed for feedback or response. Besides that, a Pre-test and Post-test were also conducted with the sample to determine the students’ improvement in their language performance. The data was analysed descriptively. Findings of the study indicated the factors that motivate students to read English Language materials from the Internet include the varieties of materials that the Internet offers, self-motivation, self-interest, and encouragement from their teachers. Findings also showed that students’ results had slightly improved in the Post-test as compared to the Pre-test. This paper ends with discussion on the implications to students, teachers, parents and education sector on the use of the English Language materials from the Internet.
