摘要:AbstractPathological gambling is a progressive and chronic disorder that is characterized by an unrelenting failure to resist impulses to gamble; although it is labelled as an impulse disorder, most treatment interventions are based on substance abuse models. Problem gambling has gained much attention as a result of many negative consequences: financial difficulties, mental health problems, as guilt, depression and anxiety, difficulties at works or school, relationship problems with spouse, children and friends. The prevalence of problem gambling ranges from 0.5% to 7.6% of the adult population. This paper provides an overview of the status of treatment for pathological gambling.
