During the Industrial Revolutionthat took place from around 1760 to 1840,Liverpool’s role as the main gateway inthe West for raw materials and fnishedgoods, along with the ships that calledthere, were instrumental in developingBritain’s trading links with North andSouth America, West Africa, the Middleand Far East, and Australia.
