摘要:Instruction librarians are among the most welcoming andsupportive colleagues on campus due to deeply held beliefsregarding the democratization of information and the accessibilityof knowledge for all. Librarians are dedicated tosupporting a wide-range of learning and inquiry and endeavorto engage all academic disciplines and co-curricular departmentsin order to identify the needs and influence theexperience of the whole student. Having the opportunity toengage with all types of students both in and beyond theclassroom, we recognize students as complex social beingswhose education must expand beyond cognitive functioningto encompass emotional and spiritual awareness aswell. This holistic approach to students' higher educationexperience is increasingly informed in academic librarianshipby critical theory, which takes the traditionally welcomingpresence of the library a step further toward facilitatingagency for our users. Inclusivity and agency share thestage in the holistic student experience, and librarians arewell-positioned to create learning experiences at this intersection.The purpose of this article is to provide a brief overviewof inclusive pedagogy as it applies to the socially andculturally diverse higher education classroom, and sharestrategies for practical application of inclusive pedagogy inone-shot library instruction.
