  • 摘要:A: A big portion of our work here involves trying to preserve nesting and foraging areas. We work to improve construction policies and practices that harm sea turtles and their habitat. For example, we work to prevent the building of homes, condos and hotels on beaches and to block construction of jetties, breakwaters and other structures that can prevent turtles from nesting. We also educate local residents, visitors and businesses about what they can do to help during sea turtle nesting season, such as eliminating or redirecting light, carrying garbage and food off the beach to avoid attracting predators—like raccoons, foxes, seagulls and ants—that can destroy turtle nests, and removing furniture from beaches so sea turtles do not become trapped. And of course, nesting females or hatchlings should never be disturbed.
