摘要:Walking along the Singapore River – wwhere godowns (warehouses) lining its banks were a ubiquitous sight in the 19thand 20th centuries – one building strikesthe casual observer as being atypical.Designed in the southern Chinese stylewith a prominent tiled roof and a curvedridge embellished with ceramic shards,the building is stylistically different fromthe others in the area. This is RiverHouse along Clarke Quay, poeticallyknown as “House of Ripples” or LianyiXuan (涟漪轩) in Chinese.
