摘要:For generations, photography has played a critical role in society. It was theonly pristine way to relay truth and reality to the public, and its impact has beenprofound. For example, many scholars suggest that photography changedmodern warfare, starting with the U.S. Civil War. Images taken on the battlefeld carried enormous weight, as they humanized people and exposed the truecarnage of conflict, no matter how distant. More recent technology—specifcally the smartphone—has shattered what was society’s most trusted source oftruth for more than 150 years. With today’s high-powered technology, cheapphoto-manipulation programs, and the capture of one trillion images annually, seeing is no longer believing.
