摘要:The present study was intended to find out the relationship between parental acceptance and two child variables, viz., problem solving and stress tolerance. This study was done among 650 teenagers studying in different schools and colleges in Kerala, the southern most state in India. Problem solving and stress tolerance are considered to be positive qualities which would lead to success in life. These qualities can be influenced by the level of acceptance shown by the parents towards their children. The tools used in this study were a subscale, Acceptance, of the Child-Rearing Practices (CRP) Scale (Student Appraisal Form), Problem Solving Inventory (PSI), and Stress Tolerance Scale. The statistical technique used was Pearson product - moment correlation. The results showed that there existed significant relationship between parental acceptance and the two variables among the teenage students. It was found that the acceptance shown by parents play an important part in instigating positive qualities in a child.
