摘要:Arecently overheard criticism of a work colleague was surprising: “She makes her employees too comfortable.” This appeared to fly in the face of much thatlibrarians have been taught about management, such asfostering team spirit, encouraging openness, and makingemployees feel valued. In this case, however, the issue wasthat the manager’s employees were not growing. They wereall highly competent at their jobs, but in the eyes of thecritic, “nothing new is ever coming out of that group. Theyare not being taken outside of their comfort zone; they arenever challenged.
