摘要:The aim of this article paper is to investigate the presence of jazz in Portuguese culture, through the study of a number of poems, written by various authors. The poems belong to the anthology Poezz, edited by José Duarte and Ricardo António Alves and published in 2004. The title is an interesting example of a neologism, revealing the fusion between two genres and also the transformation into poetry of jazz culture. Fusion is a characteristic aspect of linguistic innovations in the first half of the 20th century, but also in the second half of the same century (from the 1960s). These linguistic innovations are in line with the artistic aim of breaking with the academic past in favour of cultural innovations, for which the jazz universe is a perfect performer and spokesperson.
