  • 摘要:The present study examines 4709 global publications on “Twitter” covering the period 2008-15. The “Twitter” publications output as sourced from Scopus database registered 72% annual average growth rate CGAR and averaged to 6.48 citations impact per paper. The global publications on “Twitter” came from 94 countries. The top 10countries accounted for 77.60% global publication share and 98.58% citationsshare during 2008-15.The USA topped with largest publication share (34.38%) and India ranked 10 th highest with 3.27% share in global ranking on “Twitter” output. Top 25 authors contributed 6.37% publications share and 10.93% citation share. Their average productivity was 12.68 papers per author, average citation per paper was 10.53, average h-index was 4.52 and average share of international collaborative papers was 37.22% during 2008-15.  Top 25 organizations contributed 16.08% publications share and 40.93% citation share. Their average productivity was 30.28 papers per author, average citation per paper was 16.51, average h-index was 7.0 and average share of international collaborative papers was 25.23% during 2008-15. The “Twitter” output was distributed across several subjects. Computer sciences accounted for the largest publications share of 59.84%, followed by social sciences (27.78%), engineering (12.13%), mathematics (10.72%), and several other areas. Of the total global publications on “Twitter”, 2147 appeared in journals. The top 25 journals contributed 10.28% of the journal output. The 49 top highly cited papers constituted 1.04% share of global output on “Twitter”. The top 49 highly cited papers registered 100 to 1130 citations per paper, and together they accumulated 11418 citations, with an average of 233.02 citations per paper.  The study concludes that the pace of growth in “Twitter” output has declined significantly during last four years of this study period.
