摘要：The paper attempts to understand the level of awareness and use of web resources and online search tools among the research scholars of two well established state universities of Jammu Kashmir viz. University of Kashmir and University of Jammu. A structured questionnaire was administered among the researchers in both the universities to ascertain the awareness and use of web resources and tools. It reveals that the awareness of e-journals and e-books is optimum among researchers and majority use print and web resources equally though tide is strongly tilting in favour of web resources. The study also concludes that search engine is the most popular web tool for identification of new web resources. Web resources have gained tremendous popularity over the years and libraries are now subscribing wide range of web resources. But these efforts might not be fruitful unless users are not aware to exploit them. Therefore, the present study is an endeavour to know the awareness and use of web resources and online search tools among scholars to help libraries and information centres to devise policies and plans to help exploit web resources among the users. The study is confined to research scholars of the two institutes. The study is first of its kind in the state of Jammu Kashmir and as such ferret out some of the findings which could prove useful for stakeholders.
