摘要：Shannon’s diversity index of algal flora was calculated to analyse the algal communityin Wular lake, Kashmir during March 2002-February 2004. All the selected five stationsdid not show any difference in the mean values of diversity index, but the values ofeach month showed slight variation. Diversity was correlated with physicochemicalparameters. It showed positive correlation with Transparency and negative correlationwith conductivity, carbon dioxide, hardness and nitrate. The ANOVA was highlysignificant with respect to site and season. Shannon’s index may hold good index fordetermining the degree of pollution.
