摘要：Cutting fluids have been used extensively in metalcutting operations for the last 200 years. In the beginning,cutting fluids consisted of simple oils applied with brushesto lubricate and cool the machine tool. Occasionally, lard,animal fat or whale oil were added to improve the oil'slubricity. As cutting operations became more severe, cut-ting fluid formulations became more complex. Today’scutting fluids are special blends of chemical additives, lu-bricants and water formulated to meet the performancedemands of the metalworking industry.
