摘要：The recent advances in fingerprint sensing technology andimprovements in the accuracy and matching speed of thefngerprint matching algorithms has inspired many groups toconduct researches in Automatic Fingerprint Identificationand Authentication (AFIA) which is becoming an attractivealternative to the traditional methods of identifcation. Fingerprintclassifcation plays a major role in any large scale fngerprintidentification system. While it cannot identify fingerprintsuniquely, it is helpful in determining when two fngerprints do notmatch and also it reduces the time complexity. This paper presentsa detailed review on the existing classifcation approaches thathave applied to fngerprint recognition problems. The explanationin this paper covers the various evaluation parameters used byAFIS classifcation approaches.
