摘要：The paper outlines an effcient brain MRI region based segmentationtechniques which can signifcantly distinguish between abnormaland normal tissue. All the segmentation methods are regionbased and are noise independent. A comparison between threedifferent brain MRI segmentation methods, viz., improved levelsegmentation method, local region based active contour andvariational level set formulation method can be apprehendedeffectively and their results are also discussed. These methodsare applied to both 2D as well as 3D images.
