摘要：Wavelet thresh holding with uniform threshold has shown somesuccess in de-noising. For images, we propose that this can beimproved by adjusting thresholds spatially, based on the rationalethat detailed regions such as edges and textures tolerate some noisebut not blurring, whereas smooth regions tolerate blurring but notnoise and also proposes a wavelet-based method for compressingside scan sonar images. Wavelets are an adequate choice becausetheir intrinsic properties suit side scan sonar images.
