摘要：With the increasing number of spontaneously deployed WiFi hotspots and community based networks, end users oftenexperience performance degradation due to Starvation between thenodes in wireless mesh networks. The frequently occurred problemin wireless mesh networks is the starvation which occurred dueto the nodes which are close to the gateway will always blockthe channel without giving a chance to the nodes which are faraway from gateway to utilize the network bandwidth. So there isno scope for remaining nodes to access the channel. So to reducestarvation we propose an algorithm known Starvation MitigationAlgorithm (SMA) which states that, the gateway will work as andecision maker for the network and broadcasts the message to allthe nodes when the network bandwidth is utilized by any singlenode. Then the node which is using the bandwidth will reduce itscontention window so that remaining nodes will effciently utilizethe bandwidth and starvation will be reduced. The algorithm whichwe are proposing will mitigate the starvation in a network andbandwidth utilization is more compared to the existing algorithmand the drawback of decreasing throughput in existing systemwill be reduced and overall performance of the network will beincreased.
