摘要：There has been a very rapid growth in developments related towireless technologies over the last decade. The new evolvedtechnology aims at providing network availability to userseverywhere, at all times and at low cost. Transmission ControlProtocol (TCP) is reliable, connection oriented transport protocolwhich provides end-to-end data delivery in networks. TCP wasprimarily designed for wired networks and it shows performancedegradation when used in wireless networks. The main concernin wireless networks with TCP is the packet loss which is mostlyconsidered to have occurred due to congestion. Over the timemany TCP variants have been developed to solve the problemof congestion and improve performance of TCP. In this paper,an analysis of TCP variants has been performed. Paper presentsmethods along with corresponding advantages and disadvantages,which provides areas for future research.
