摘要:Earlier lossless image compression techniques try to fnd thesmallest possible image storage size for a specifc level of imagequality; in addition, dictionary-based encoding methods wereinitially implemented to reduce the one-dimensional correlationin text. This paper proposes improving compression methodwhich uses a bit plane slicing and block truncate compressionalgorithm with a Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) dictionary. WhenLZW compression used to compress image, the limitation of thetype of image and the number of colors must be considered andLZW compression will be used for some cases. The limitation willbe decreased by using bit plan slicing for colored and gray scaleimages. The compression ratio of proposed method is better thanthe standard LZW method by 55.6% for colored image, and 102%for gray scaled images. Experimental results for the proposedmethod better the existing methods for a large set of differenttype of images.
