摘要:Recently, many research works have been focused on thefber optic devices for optical communication systems. One ofthe main interests is on the optical amplifers to boost a weaksignal in the communication systems. In order to overcome thelimitations imposed by electrical regeneration, a means of opticalamplifcation was sought. The competing technology emerged:the frst was Raman amplifcation. One reason was that the opticalpump powers required for Raman amplifcation were signifcantlyhigher than that for Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifer (EDFA), andthe pump laser technology could not reliably deliver the requiredpowers. However, with the improvement of pump laser technologyRaman amplifcation is now an important means of expandingspan transmission reach and capacity. We have deeply studied ananalytical model for optical Distributed Raman Amplifers (DRAs)in the transmission signal power and pump power within Ramanamplifcation technique in co-pumped, counter-pumped, and bidirectional pumping direction confgurations through differenttypes of fber cable media. The validity of this model was confrmedby using experimental data and numerical simulations.
