  • 摘要:Congress passed the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in 1938 in an effort to relieve unemployment brought on by the Great Depression. To accomplish this, the legislation required (and still requires) employers to pay overtime wages to covered employees working more than 40 hours during their work week.1 Recognizing that law enforcement is not a 9-to-5 job and, therefore, does not lend itself to a traditional 40-hour workweek, the FLSA allows law enforcement agencies to use a different pay period for its sworn personnel.2.
