摘要:Rapid urbanization in Sargodha city is degrading the groundwater quality of the area. On the base of the groundwater chemistry data, an assessment of groundwater for domestic use and irrigation purpose is established in study area. Groundwater samples from 12 different locations were collected to study the physical and chemical parameters such as TDS, total alkalinity, pH, electrical conductivity, calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, copper, iron, nitrates, sulphates and chloride. Concentration of physiochemical parameters such as total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, chloride, iron and nitrates are much higher than the allowed limit for drinking purposes. Correlation coefficient matrices were calculated among ten water quality parameters namely calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, copper, iron, nitrates, sulphates, chloride and E.C. Salinity hazard, Kelly5S ratio and Sodium adsorption ratio were calculated to classify the groundwater for irrigation purpose. Results indicates that groundwater can not be used as potable, however it can be utilized for irrigation.
