  • 摘要:Panax ginseng is a species of perennial herbal plant with highly valuable roots, which is mainly used in energy drinks and pharmaceutical area for the benefits in blood circulation and immune system. However, the long growth period of 4-6 years for artificial ginseng cultivation enhances the investment risk, as disease infection and other issues will lower the yield stability with such long growth period. Adjusting light conditions according to the particular photosynthesis characteristics of ginseng is an easy method to shorten the growth period, which is less harmful to ginseng growth. In this review, we specifically summarized the effects of different light conditions on ginseng growth and discussed precautionary methods regarding photosynthesis of ginseng. An environmental friendly method for minimizing the high risks associated with ginseng cultivation from the perspective of preventing the diseases and shortening growth period by using shade materials to adjust natural sunlight was recommended, the which can reduce the risks in ginseng cultivation.
