摘要：This paper examines Tadashi Sekino′s identification and classification of Korean building traditions when nationalistic Japan was rapidly colonizing Korea in the early 20th century: Sekino produced a substantial body of work on Korean building traditions offering various historical understanding of them as well as future scenarios for their development in relation to the rapidly shifting political conditions of Japan′s relationship with the West. Even if Japan used him for fostering its nationalistic and colonial projects in different time periods, he however came up with nuanced ideas, which have an important bearing on the discussion regarding issues of Korean architectural modernity.
