摘要：The livestock sector has been contributing considerably to the economy of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is therefore imperative that livestock development plans should be formulated on the basis of reliable statistical data and hence timely and accurate livestock monitoring and evaluation of development plans and programs should be made. The livestock data can be generated efficiently using sample survey techniques. A survey of the Pulwama district has been carried out to study the role of labour utilization since district Pulwama has the largest livestock population in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Then a comparison of the survey and 17" livestock census conducted by Government of India in collaboration with National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in 2003-04, was made. The results overall show that the stratification of clusters was good in the blocks. The study has suggested that 29.2% of women labour was utilized in the six blocks, 30.89% of men, 7.7% of children and 32.7% of hired labour were utilized.
