摘要：In the world we lives in, there were certain issues that had gone through a series of discussions among various sectors of the society. One such issue is capital punishment, and debate still continues through different angles of arguments. Objective: This questionnaire study aims to understand the perception of Medical and Law students in Mangalore towards capital punishment. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire which contains 12 objective type questions was distributed to 200 medical and 100 law students and their perception regarding capital punishment is assessed. Result and Conclusion: This was a cross-sectional study among a group of medical and law students in Mangalore. Our study suggested a positive attitude towards capital punishment among both set of students. The minority group who opposed it had done the same on humanitarian grounds. Hanging was suggested as the preferred method of capital punishment followed by chemical injection. Murder, rape and terrorism where the three major crimes which deserved capital punishment in accordance with both the subject groups. A statistical difference exists in the perceptional view among law and medical students.
