摘要:Background: Antibiotics are among medicine groups which are most commonly used in our country as well as all around the world. This study has been carried out to evaluate the frequency of use of empiric antibiotics and its suitability in patients who were in Cardiology Coronary Intensive Care Unit in a Training Hospital in 2010. Methods: In this study, 247 files belonging to patients who took in-patient treatment for various diagnoses in Cardiology Coronary Intensive Care Unit in a Training Hospital between 01 January 2010 and 31 December 2010 have been examined. Frequency, percentage, median and standard deviation have been provided as descriptive statistics. Results: Age average of participants in this survey is depicted as 65,34±14,04, and 60,3 % of it consists of men and, 39,7% of it consists of women. It has been detected that 41,7 % of the patients has stable angina pectoris, 13,0 % has chronic coronary failure, and 9,4% has life threatening arrhythmia. It has been seen that antibiotics are supplied empirically for 32,0% of inpatients in coronary intensive care unit as a medical treatment. Conclusion: As a result of our survey, before starting antibiotics treatment for inpatients in coronary intensive care unit, it has been detected that consultation request for infectious diseases and frequency of collecting culture is not sufficient. Before starting antibiotics treatment, a culture sample should be taken and delivered to an infectious disease expert for consultation.
