摘要：In this case report, we wanted to share our experience gained during removal of a risky foreign body from an unstable trauma patient who was injured by handmade explosives, with the help of bomb-dismantling experts. A 21 year-old male admitted to ED after two hours because of handmade explosive injury. When the patient was evaluated, blood pressure could not be measured with filiform pulse and there were penetrating abdomen injury, a 10x20 cm sized foreign body in the left thigh and an open and segmental fracture in the right leg. The foreign body has been determined as a grenade by radiographic examination with help on a bomb-dismantling expert. The unstable patient was taken to the operating theatre immediately with 2 surgical teams. The foreign bodies were observed as 81mm mortar shell tail and an unexploded propelling cartridge which were used in making a handmade explosive. It is concluded that the surgical team risked their safeties during removal of the foreign body. It is also concluded that preparation of protective conditions for risky surgical procedures in centers where terror or war injuries has been encountered often is essential.
