摘要：Abstract. The goal of this paper is to show that boolean analysis ( Flament, 1976 ) is a promising technique for the explorative analysis of bi-valued questionnaires. The result of a boolean analysis is a set of statements describing deterministic dependencies between the items of the questionnaire. Boolean analysis can be considered as a class of methods for the extraction of such deterministic dependencies from data. We describe one algorithm of boolean analysis in detail to give an impression about the mechanisms and results of a boolean analysis. The algorithm tries to uncover existing logical implications between items by data analysis. This algorithm is then used to analyse several data sets from the International Social Science Survey Programme (ISSP) from the year 1995. The results of this analysis show that the technique is able to provide interesting insights into the structure of the data.
