摘要：The date palm tree is considered one of the endemic trees in the Arab region. The area planted with date palm in the Jordan valley has been increased. The Indian red weevil is a known economical pest on date palms in many regions of the date palm production areas. The introduction of infested palm trees constitute a source threatens and determines the future of palm cultivation in Jordan, Arab and G ulf countries. The larval stage of this insect is considered one of the most dangerous phases, as the larvae feed on the palm trunk, creating large tunnels in the stem of the palm, which leads to the emergence of large voids in the trunk, and then its weakness, dryness and spoilage. Field visits were performed to evaluate forty farms distributed in the Jordan valley covering the middle and northern Jordan valley (Ghore) in 2000 and then sporadic observations then continued up to 2019. A questionnaire was filled by the farm superintendent after explaining to him the risks of this weevil and the symptoms that may show upon infestation. Locally made insect traps were distributed in private farm. The caught adults were separated and counted every week. The infection began to appear in the spring and summer from one of the large farms located in the Kabed Valley, number of trees were burned on this farm and it seems that this infection was not controlled. The infestation was spread to neighbouring farms and becoming in all regions planted with date palm in Jordan. The results taken from the private farms indicated large numbers of this insect were attracted and recorded in pheromone traps in the months of July and August. Several practices were recommended to prevent and control this destructive and epidemic insect pest.
