  • 摘要:This study was carried out to determine the effect of salinity and media on growth parameters of caiTot (Daunts carota L.) in soil and hydroponic systems. Plants were exposed to the direct salinity shock and salinity was induced by incorporating different concentrations [0.0 (control),100, 200, 300, or 400 mMJ to soil and [0.0 (control),2, 3, 4, or 5 dS/rn] to the culture media of sodium chloride (NaCl). Compared to the control, the germination percentage and relative water content (RWC) decreased respectively. Fruit quality parameters affected by salt treatment where the fruit number, size, pulp firmness and total soluble solids (TSS) were decreased when salinity increased. The results showed (hat the elevated salinity significantly reduced chlorophyll and protein in shoots as well. The percentage of shoot content of minerals was reduced with elevated salinity level. Cation exchange capacity (CEC), organic matter, (OM) and electrical conductivity (EC) were calculated. Carrot is susceptible and survives under conditions of high salinity 400 mM or 4 dS/m but with high decrease in yield. Plants grow in Hoagland solution had the best gemiination and growth compared to soil especially at the first three treatments. It was concluded that hydroponics system has a potential to be developed for plant growth and for biomass production at salinity.
