摘要:AbstractThis paper evaluated the inhibition performance of Ibuprofen drug (ID) on pure copper in 0.5 M H2SO4. The corrosion resistance enhancement ability of Ibuprofen drug was examined through potentiodynamic polarization experiment. The results of the experiment show that the pure copper exhibit the corrosion rate (Cr), current density (jcorr) and polarization resistance (Pr) of 11.901 mm/year, 1024.20 μA/cm2and 4.9561 Ω, respectively. However, the maximum inhibited copper sample exhibit the Cr, jcorrand Pr of 1.0953 mm/year, 94.30 μA/cm2and 92.348 Ω, respectively. More so, the inhibition efficiency (I.E) ranging from 78.43 to 90.79% was recorded. The inhibition performance of Ibuprofen drug is due to the ability of its molecules to protect the anodic and cathodic sites of the copper samples by the inhibitive drug. The mixed inhibition characteristic of the Ibuprofen drug molecules was established by the Tafel curve. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm revealed R2value of 0.9850, which indicates the efficacy of Ibuprofen drug as an inhibitor. The Optical microscope (OPM) micrographs further confirmed the adsorption of Ibuprofen drug molecules on the copper surface.Graphical abstractDisplay Omitted
