摘要：AbstractRenewable energy is imperative for Africa's development; however, given that sustainable energy projects in Africa seldomly succeed, it is imperative to ascertain how community acceptance also influences energy projects. This paper examines the interplay between politics, market and community acceptance and how elements like cultural variations, gender activity roles, leadership roles and perceptions amongst communities can play a central role in renewable energy initiation and sustainability in Africa. We discuss implications for policymakers and present exegetical recommendations that can advance not only community participation but also private sector involvement and cultural reverence to ensure sustainable energy project implementation. This paper adds to the increasing stream of research on how Africa can unlock its renewable energy potential and ensure sustainable energy services for all.
