摘要:AbstractThe continuous evolution of industrial environments brings new challenges for the control research and education, pushing its scope through the Industrial Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 that transforms the classic process control into Cyber-Physical Systems. This paper presents a low-cost educational and research system for temperature distribution control with networked control features developed by the Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, and Automation Laboratory (MESALab) of the University of California Merced. The system incorporates temperature visual feedback control using a thermal infrared camera. Also, the system allows running not only local Hardware in the Loop controls but also performing networked control through the internet from anywhere around the world. The overall cost of this system is less than 700 USD, which makes it affordable for many control engineering schools. Local and networked control tests were performed for this system, showing that the platform is an alternative for open networked control research and classic process control.
